The usual answer is to get a different radio or a higher quality set of headphones. Get them from someplace that has a good return policy incase they do not work.

No; the elliptical shouldn't make your legs look bulky. It actually takes a lot of the pressure of of your knees and is easier for people with bad joints than running on the treadmil.

The only problem I've had with an elliptical is that it's hard to go at the same rate that I would usually go on the treadmil. (7-7.5 mph) simply because you're using your arms with the machine.

I have one and use it regularly. I've never gotten any bulk, nor have I noticed any tone. Mostly, I just lose weight.

No you will not get bulky. You will get toned legs, calves and buttocks. The ellliptical is a great piece of equipment to do for cardiovascular exercise. Great way to loose weight.

I have only found up to 500 lbs, which would certainly be better, though not quite 550.

You might have to try a big stationary bike (recumbant) and walk outside to lose some poundage, or go easy on it and hope you don't break it.

A treadmill is not a good option for someone who weighs more than 350lbs. The best way to for someone heavier then that is begin exercising is to walk and and gradually increase pace and distance. They can also do basic exercise that use their own body weight as the resistance until they have reached the point where they can handle a treadmill. I may also be a good idea to speak to a doctor as well as personal trainer to give more specific and personal advice.
